The SNEC 2025 recently concluded in Shanghai, drawing global attention as the year's premier expo in the solar industry. During the event, Mr. Chuntao He, General Manager of the Application Technology Department, and Zhefeng Pan, Product Director of the same department, delivered keynote presentations showcasing DAS Solar's strategic layout and technological advantages in floating PV systems.
Mr. Chuntao He, General Manager of DAS Solar's Application Technology Department
At the 10th Century PV Conference (CPC2025), He made a speech titled "PV Applications in Marine Ranching", offering insights into DAS Solar's innovations and real-world practice in integrating floating PV with offshore aquaculture.
Driven by global dual-carbon goals, marine ranching is undergoing a transformation toward precision, intelligence, and ecological integration. He emphasized that beyond boosting fishery productivity, modern marine ranches are also becoming platforms for ecosystem restoration and sustainable development. Recent national policies encouraging "blue granary" construction have further supported the synergy of PV and ocean-based industries.
To meet the demands of different marine environments from nearshore zones to open waters, DAS Solar has independently developed a highly reliable floating PV system featuring flexible water ballast for wave damping and anti-sway mooring designs. The system exhibits outstanding resistance to wind and waves, having passed field validation in typical sea conditions, including withstanding 14-grade typhoons and 4-meter wave heights. He also highlighted DAS Solar's ongoing development of an "Offshore Life System" pilot platform—an innovative floating territory that integrates solar power generation, energy storage, desalination, hydrogen production, soilless farming, and modular living quarters. This closed-loop system offers both sustainable power for marine aquaculture and self-sufficient living solutions, advancing the vision of energy-ecology-lifestyle convergence at sea.
Mr. Zhefeng Pan, Product Director of DAS Solar's Application Technology Department
At SNEC, Pan gave a detailed presentation on "DAS Solar's Offshore Floating PV System Solutions", outlining the company's systematic approach to marine PV deployment.
Since initiating offshore PV R&D in 2019, DAS Solar has accumulated substantial expertise in design, engineering, and real-world testing. To withstand the harsh marine environment, the company developed durable modules that are fully sealed, water-impermeable, UV-resistant, and salt-fog-resistant, with an operational lifespan of up to 30 years. The floating platform utilizes eco-friendly, weather-resistant aluminum-polymer composite materials that resist seawater corrosion and UV aging, ensuring stable operation for over 25 years. These floats are also suitable for inland applications such as lakes, reservoirs, and subsidence zones, with added value in ecological restoration.
The company applies ocean engineering methodologies, including finite element analysis of multi-float structures under coupled wind-wave-current forces. Through extensive simulation and field testing, DAS Solar continuously refines float design and interconnect mechanisms, significantly improving the system's safety and durability.
In collaboration with the Third Institute of Oceanography of China's Ministry of Natural Resources, DAS Solar has launched a series of pilot projects focused on eco-friendly PV and aquaculture integration. At SNEC, the company unveiled the results of its marine ecological strategy partnership, which includes intelligent ecological impact monitoring systems, benefit evaluation tools, and a portfolio of patents and software copyrights. These achievements provide replicable models and science-based decision-making tools for integrating offshore PV with aquaculture, while also strengthening the company's intellectual property portfolio.
As a pioneer in N-type PV technology and a provider of holistic energy solutions, DAS Solar continues to drive the integration of PV and marine economies through technological innovation, cross-industry collaboration, and ecological research. Looking ahead, DAS Solar will deepen its partnerships across the value chain to expand the frontiers of "PV + Aquaculture" applications, helping to build a low-carbon, efficient, and ecologically sound blue economy, and contributing to the global pursuit of carbon neutrality and sustainable development.
