DAS ECO: How to Reshape Full Life-cycle PV Value Across Scenarios with Flexible Mounting Systems

2025-06-20

The SNEC 2025 recently concluded in Shanghai, drawing global attention as the year's premier expo in the solar industry. During the event, Mr. Chuntao He, General Manager of DAS Solar's Application Technology Department, delivered a keynote titled "Multi-scenario Applications of Flexible Mounting Systems" at the 18th Global PV Frontier Technology Conference. Mr. Hui Cheng, Senior Manager at the same department, gave a featured presentation at DAS Solar's booth, drawing attention from industry experts and investors. Both speakers detailed the breakthroughs DAS Solar's flexible mounting system has achieved in land use optimization, energy yield enhancement, and environmental adaptability.

Mr. Chuntao He, General Manager of DAS Solar's Application Technology Department

He emphasized that key components of PV system construction, such as land use, foundation piles, steel materials, and labor, which represent major portions of project costs. DAS Solar's flexible mounting system offers a comprehensive approach to cost reduction and efficiency improvement, redefining the full life-cycle value of solar projects. By employing a long-span tensioned cable design, the system significantly reduces land occupation and increases land-use efficiency. Its ability to span over kilometers without interruption minimizes the need for pile foundations, lowering material consumption and construction impact.

Unlike conventional rigid steel structures, DAS Solar's flexible mounting system relies on tensioned cables for load-bearing, enabling a dramatic reduction in steel usage. The lightweight design also simplifies transportation and installation, cutting logistics costs and labor input. Rapid deployment shortens construction timelines and capital commitment, ultimately boosting economic returns for PV developers.

In practice, the company's flexible mounting system has already demonstrated outstanding performance in diverse environments. At the Kubuqi Desert project in Inner Mongolia, DAS Solar's optimized flexible mounting system reduced material use and construction complexity, delivering clear cost benefits. At a hill project in Shanxi, the system's terrain adaptability enabled efficient solar deployment on steep, uneven land, providing a replicable model for hill PV projects.

Building upon this platform, DAS Solar further introduced a flexible tracking system that combines smart tracking technology with the structural advantages of its flexible system. As Cheng explained, this new solution is equipped with high-precision tracking sensors capable of real-time solar angle detection. By automatically adjusting module tilt to maintain optimal orientation toward sunlight, the system maximizes energy capture across different seasons and times of day, delivering significantly higher yields compared to traditional fixed mounting systems.

The flexible tracker performs exceptionally well not only in expansive terrains such as coastal flats, reclaimed tidal lands, and desert plains, but also in topographically complex areas like hills and slopes. Its ability to conform to varied landscapes ensures both mechanical stability and high energy output, unlocking new opportunities for solar deployment in previously challenging sites.

To guarantee long-term reliability, DAS Solar has conducted comprehensive testing and validation of its flexible system under a range of extreme environmental conditions. Cheng noted that the structure has passed electroluminescence (EL) testing, wind tunnel testing at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and real-world exposure to extreme weather. Notably, it withstood the level-17 Super Typhoon Yagi, underscoring its resilience in harsh environments and its capacity to ensure stable returns on solar investment.

DAS Solar's breakthroughs in flexible mounting technology are not only advancing the industry's technical frontier but also offering tangible, scalable solutions for reducing cost and improving project efficiency. As global demand for renewable energy accelerates, the company remains committed to deepening its flexible structure innovation, advancing sustainable solar deployment, and supporting the world's clean transition.
