TÜV Nord collaborated with DAS Solar and other PV companies to publish a "White Paper on Lightweight PV Module Technology Application"

2023-09-21

On September 21, 2023, DAS Solar was invited to attend the "2023 TÜV Nord PV Energy Storage Technology Exchange Conference" in Huzhou, China. The conference focused on the advancement of PV energy storage technologies and standards in practical applications. The "White Paper on Lightweight PV Module Technology Application" was officially released at the conference.

Low-carbon development has become an inevitable trend in the construction industry, and the distributed photovoltaic market is overgrowing. Lightweight modules have become increasingly important in full-scenario applications due to the low carbon footprint, lightweight, and ease of installation. However, lightweight modules face several technical challenges and reliability concerns in practical applications, such as strong winds, heavy snow, and hail, as well as fire and water resistance. Driven by an unwavering pursuit of stringent quality standards, TÜV Nord collaborated with DAS Solar, SUNPORT, GoodWe, and Hondol Material, has co-authored the "White Paper on Lightweight PV Module Technology Application." The goal is to increase the safety and reliability of lightweight modules.

DAS Solar has self-developed lightweight modules that utilize fluorine-containing high-molecular-weight transparent front sheets instead of glass. By reducing the modules' weight by 70% compared to traditional modules, which solves the problems with heavy and installation difficulties. DAS Solar's lightweight module is encapsulated with POE film between layers of fluorine-containing high-molecular-weight materials on the front side. The backside uses aluminum foil composite materials, ensuring a "0" water permeability rate and providing excellent UV, aging resistance, and fire resistance. Furthermore, these modules employ flexible encapsulation technology, enabling them to bend up to 880mm and be suitable for rooftop installations. These modules can be installed directly without requiring additional supports, seamlessly integrating with the installation environment, which enhances the aesthetics and lowers the cost of BOS in module installation.

DAS Solar has undergone are dust and sand testing, triple PID certification, salt mist certification at level 6, hail testing at DH1000+, load testing at DH1000+, which have demonstrated the module's high power generation capabilities, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. To accelerate the adoption and application of lightweight photovoltaic modules, DAS Solar will collaborate with partners to leverage TÜV Nord's established testing capabilities in photovoltaic modules, balance of system, and PV plant systems. As a Tier 1 manufacturer, DAS Solar is dedicated to creating low-carbon and green products for all scenarios.
